What a hot day!!! We began the day at Laurens as she prepared. The boys secretly were building one of the prettiest shade cloths for at the ceremony- as a surprise for Lauren!
By 1:30pm, it had reached 40C degrees and it was time for the ceremony, which was held in the cove to the north of Boat Harbour in Ocean Reef. The sun was burning, the sand was burning and surprisingly there was no Freo doctor. After the ceremony we ventured up the sand dune to the Whitfords Sea Rescue and Sports Club for a much needed drink to recover. By 3:30 we were back outdoors for the bridal party photos, and commenting how cool it was outdoors (it was probably still 38 degrees but I think our senses were messed up, and at least there was a breeze by this point.)
We headed back to Beaumaris Beach for sunset photos and boy had Mother Nature rewarded us for surviving the sweltering day, with one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen. The reception was held in Lauren’s parents backyard, it had been transformed into a tropical blue and white theme. The tables and decking bordered on a tempting turquoise pool, and the gazebo, especially built for the occasion by Lauren dad brought everything together. I felt like I was in Bali!! After a fun night, complete with frozen cocktails, the entire bridal party ended the day by jumping fully clothed into the tempting pool surrounded by their cheering guests!
Update: One of our images from Lauren and Guy’s wedding was awarded an Honorable Mention in the prestigious Junebug Weddings Best of the Best 2011 competition. See which image won, along with the other winning entries on the Junebug website :D
