Jo & Chris | Matilda Bay Wedding

Matilda Bay wedding
Jo and Chris are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. Which is probably why it was so obvious Jo and Chris were going to be a great match, that several of their mutual friends attesting to being the official match maker! And of course it did feel like 6 degrees of separation, since I went to school with Jo’s sister Michelle so actually have know her and her lovely family since she was about 4 years old. Not to mention my second photographer Christian having known them through his church as well. And their celebrant Trenna Lewington being my teacher from Primary School :)

Chris proposed while they were on holidays in Sydney for Christmas. After a very busy week of family functions and Christmas parties Chris managed to find a free night and casually suggested they go out to dinner together. After enjoying an Italian meal overlooking the beach, they bought an ice cream and wandered along the esplanade. The sun had completely set, so they stopped and sat watching the lights glimmering across the bay. After months of secret planning, Chris’s heart was pounding so hard it was beating out of his chest, but Jo didn’t notice as she leaned against him. When Chris finally popped the question Jo was totally surprised!

And so, just over a year later it was their wedding day. Their ceremony was held on the lawn next to Matilda Bay, under the stunning trees, which is one of my favourite garden ceremony locations in Perth. The sun just glows in the afternoon, lighting up the leaves a vibrant shade of green. After some photos along the foreshore we made a quick dash for the Blue Boat Shed, the Moreton Bay fig trees and UWA before their cocktail reception in the downstairs Catalina Room at Matilda Bay. What seemed like a casual relaxing affair as guests enjoyed canapes overlooking the sunset soon turned into one huge party as everyone filled the outdoor dance floor and partied under the stars.

Their ‘Honeymoon’ sounds amazing, a snowboarding trip with 11 other friends to Niseko Japan. Although they all shared one huge house at the base of the mountain, so it was more of a continuation of the wedding celebrations than a romantic honeymoon! Jo and Chris look forward to having second more traditional honeymoon later in the year.

A big thank you to Jo and Chris for having us at your wedding, we enjoyed such fun celebrations with your lovely family and friends!
