Wedding Photography: Araluen Botanical Park

Patrick and Simone

Last Saturday Richard and I had the pleasure to photograph the wedding of the lovely couple Simone and Patrick. The weather bureau has stated the day will be ‘Mostly Sunny’ but also ‘a chance of a showers’ so we were all happy that the weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony.

Simone and her bridesmaids got ready at the Anne Hathaway lodge in the Old Elizabethan village in Bedfordale. It was very picturesque, as though we were somewhere in England 100 years ago.

After a journey in two stunning cars including a pink Cadillac, the ceremony was held at Bennetts Lawn in Araluen Botanical Park, Roleystone surrounded by greenery. When it was time for Patrick to kiss his bride, he looked like the happiest man on earth. I have to make a special note of the trio who played the background music at the ceremony, who were in fact friends of Simone and Patrick from orchestra. We stayed in Araluen for photographs of the family, bridal party and romantic couple afterwards before catching up with the guests at the reception.

The reception was held at Roley’s on the Ridge, a stunning character restaurant also located in Roleystone. Roley’s is decorated with Australian materials such as recycled jarrah, rusty corrugated tin and exposed beams, and had a wonderful cosy atmosphere. The food was lovely too.

Patrick and Simone are both ballroom dancers (who met at dancing) and their “first dance” was more like a floor show! The party continued late into the night as their friends from dancing hit the dance floor and get the party pumping and energy high. Thank you guys for a wonderful day!
