Sarah and Nathan | Wildflower Pavilion in Kings Park and Joondalup Resort

It all started back in 2004, when Sarah and Nathan met at a local pub by the beach in Adelaide.  Sarah was upstairs, Nathan and his friends were downstairs. Their eyes locked as Sarah glanced off the balcony, and Sarah’s friend said “he’s not your type”, which in retrospect was bad advice! When one of Sarah friends dropped a glass, Nathan came over to warn Sarah to be careful not to cut herself. Nathan says his line was smooth, well I suppose the fact that they are are now married proves that it worked!

As they watched the fireworks from Kings Park at midnight on New Years Day 2012, over a bottle of champagne Nathan waited for midnight to strike before proposing. Since they were engaged in Kings Park, they decided to have their wedding ceremony at the Wildflower Pavilion there. The venue also fit their wedding theme of classic elegance perfectly, and was large enough to fit all their guests under cover! Sarah and Nathan had two places where they really wanted photos, Kings Park overlooking the Perth skyline, where they got engaged, and the Blue Boat Shed on Mounts Bay Road. The weather had other plans for them, and when it came time for the bridal party photos the sky let it out! Although mother nature did create some amazing cloud formations for the photos, which we love, so I think it was worth it. Whilst our lighting gear is relatively water resistant, we had wrapped it in clear plastic bags to be sure, which was probably a good move because at the Boat Shed it started Bucketing! Richard, our lighting assistant Eddy and I did get a bit drenched as we used our umbrellas to keep the rain off the camera and had sacrificed ourselves. I actually don’t think I could have been much wetter even if I had fallen in the river :) Luckily we were able to use the drive up to Joondalup Resort to semi-dry ourselves with the heater on full blast.

We had some time for photos around the stunning Joondalup Resort before the reception, and luckily the rain had stopped and the sky was amazing! Their reception was held at the Lakeview Terrace Marquee, which also overlooks the pool. With many of their guests having travelled for their weddings, mostly from Adelaide it was huge celebration. The food was amazing, the speeches hilarious, and their friends sure know how to move!

Everything went smoothly, and looked so photogenic!  Sarah particularly recommends Hob Nob Bridal for their amazing service and stunning dresses, Poppy’s Flowers for their beautiful displays that fit her theme perfectly and Bianca Letch, their wedding planner for all her help and assistance in executing their vision perfectly. The full list of the vendors that helped make the day so awesome can be found at the bottom of this post.

This wedding does confirm my theory that brides tend to choose a similar colour as their wedding theme as they have chosen for the feature wall in their house! So if you are planning a wedding and haven’t chosen your colour scheme yet, the answer is probably staring right at you, just check out your walls! As an added bonus, this means your walls make a great backdrop for photos when you are getting ready :)

Sarah and Nathan’s honeymoon was an amazing trip through Europe from Paris, the French Riviera, Milan, Venice, Rome, Cinque Terra, Lake Como, Calabria, to Mykonos and Santorini, which includes some of Richard and my favourite places in the world!!  Thank you Sarah and Nathan for having us at your wedding, and for happily embracing the crazy weather! :)
