Dee and Willie met through mutual friends at the fine establishment of Mustangs Bar in Northbridge. Dee was out with her friends and as she was sitting resting her feet a head popped up from behind to tell her “You’re boring!” This happened a few more times before Dee decided to get up and prove the mystery head wrong. And that is how Willie receives my award for best and also worst pick up line all in one. I also think this is proof that it doesn’t really matter what you say if you have a sexy Irish accent :)
Nearly 5 years later, Willie woke up, in his donger on a remote work site, and realised what he already knew, Dee was ‘The One’. The very next day he got down to planning an engagement. Spread sheets were developed, phone calls were made, plans were laid in stone, bookings were made, decoys were planned, friends were engaged for ideas and the perfect ring was crafted. It was to be on the exact 5 year anniversary, a Friday night, however Willie was in the middle of a 4 week stint on site, but his romantic story granted him 3 days back in Perth to execute the top secret plan.
The epic night started with Dee going to a decoy night out with Willie’s sister Caroline. Dee was slightly suspicious when she found out where the dinner was, but since Willie had never returned from site mid swing before, she never suspected their flawless plan. Dee arrived at the dinner table, to find balloons, flowers and Willie! Willie said the surprise was for Dee’s birthday, which was only a few days prior, so it was not until after dinner did he pop the question. Aparently Dee’s answer was a laugh, of which Willie took it as a yes. Champagne and dessert were served before he whizzed here off to the awaiting and surprise Limo… and the story doesnt even end there… They stopped by the Mustang Bar where they had first met for a drink and photo before Willie blindfolded Dee and took her to a secret location, their house. To add more surprises to the story, Willie had arranged for friends and family to be waiting, with some under the impression it was a surprise birthday party celebration for Dee.
Dee and Willie’s wedding was a beautiful, fun day. Their ceremony was held at Queens Gardens, where their friend Vanessa Wharton helped make the ceremony even more special. After some bridal party photos around Queens Garden, we headed to Sorrento Beach.
Their reception was held at AQWA, with the guests canapes in the aquarium tunnel. We managed to sneak in for some photos before the guests arrived. Their reception in the main function room looks stunning, the turquoise details matched the ocean views outside. The guests watched the sunset over the scenic views before Dee and Willie and their bridal party made their grand entrance. I also have to mention their friend Jason, who was the most hilarious MC!
Thank you Willie and Dee for having us along for the most hilarious, fun and touching day. Everything went so smoothly, you guys are so easy going (despite the love for spreadsheets) and so much prettiness!
