Cayla and Joe | St Boniface Cathedral and Wyndham Resort Dunsborough

Cayla and Joe are both teachers, and they met when Joe went to Canada, and they were working at the same school. After spending much time together, and Cayla’s family practically adopting Joe, they knew they were meant to be together. So when the time came for Joe to come back to Australia, Cayla decided to join him, and well, the rest is history!!

On their wedding morning, we arrived at the girls at Wyndham Resort and Spa, Dunsborough, but it sounded as though we had landed in Canada. Even their videographer Chantelle, from You Films hails from Canada. And then Cayla’s bridesmaids Nicole, Jen, Nic, Lisa, Kristie told us we were the ones with cute accents. We side with Janelle! I then visited the Joseph and the groomsmen Michael, Stefan, Dan , Mark, Clint and Brad who got ready in record time.

Their romantic ceremony was held at St Boniface Cathedral in Bunbury as that was the closest large church that could fit all their guests. This was followed by the most organised formal photos, of all guests.. ever! Kudos to the Groomsmen, who helped us efficiently get through the list in record time. The bridal party then had a quick break to enjoy some Subway platters :)

For the bridal party photos, we made the long trip to Meelup Beach. It was totally worth it, the water looked like it was straight out of a
travel brochure from some exotic island. The poor bridesmaids from Canada, who had just left freezing temperatures and an ice storm were now dumped in the middle of the Australian Summer, battling the harsh sun, hot sand and a zillion flies! After  dodging sunbathers for some quick photos  on the rocks and white sand, we headed back to Wyndham Resort.  On he grounds we visited pond and then the pretty gardens, with the late afternoon sun filtering between the trees, it was perfect for photos. The sunset photos with Joe and Cayla were taken on the beach, right outside Wyndham, another amazing beach!

With over 20 guests from Canada, the reception was very emotional, with Joe jokingly questioning the terrible things Cayla’s parents must say about him for stealing their daughter and bringing her to the other side of the world!  Groomsman Dan doubled as MC and did a great job, as were the bridesmaids thoughtful gifts all the way from Canada. After many beautiful speeches and delicious food, the guests danced the evening away!

Thanks Cayla and Joe for taking us to Dunsborough, for an amazing day, and for staying out late after the reception for the sparkler shots as I tried out my backwards handwriting, well until the sprinklers came on and we called it a night.
